Mornings are the time for visits from doctors and nurses, and to assess any new needs or assistance our residents may have. Whilst getting our residents ready for the day, the carers are always chatting with the residents and making them feel at home.
Hairdressers and chiropodist visits take place in the morning and a weekly shop is run by the home.
Midmorning tea, coffee and biscuits is served from 10.00am onwards. This is also the time where the activities programme for the morning starts in the conservatory. Our entertainment officer, is well known by all the residents, and fun and laughter can always be heard from the conservatory. The activity programme is resident led and is designed to stimulate and entertain the residents. Residents are also encouraged to pursue their own hobbies and interests. A resident’s right to decline is always respected.
Activities and entertainment continues until lunchtime.
Afternoons are the time when outside entertainers visit the home, when outings are arranged, or when parties are arranged to celebrate calendar events. Residents also have an opportunity to socially interact, enjoy their hobbies, read a book from the library or to watch the movie of the day with popcorn.
Afternoon tea and homemade cakes are served from 3.00pm onwards.
Supper starts from 5.00pm onwards and is served in the dining room or the privacy of the resident’s bedroom. Although supper is a lighter meal, there is always the choice of a hot meal, soup of the day or sandwich, all with accompaniments. There are two choices of main meal and desserts. Residents always have the opportunity to discuss special preferences with their own chef.
After supper is the time for our residents to relax and enjoy the evening either in the conservatory or the comfort of their own room. All rooms and communal areas have their own flat screen television where residents can watch a programme of their choice. Evening refreshments and snacks are served and alcoholic beverages are available upon request. Although meals and refreshments are served at specific times, residents are able to request to dine at a different time.
